Start The New Year By Winning A Free Bet

Happy new year and all that, competition fans. I would like to say I spent the Christmas holidays devising ever more devious ways to bamboozle you in my weekly blog competition, but in reality it was spent drinking and having just the right amount of greasy food to avoid having a heart attack. The fun and games are over sadly and now it’s back to the business of head-wrecking.

Sadly Santa Claus didn’t bring me a dose of creativity this year, so it’s a See It, Say It competition (or whatever not particularly catchy name I was calling it before). The aim of the game remains the same however, simply decipher the clues to get the sports related answers. Each of the below roughly corresponds to a syllable of the answer.

Usually it’s the names of athletes, former athletes, managers, sports teams, organisations or competitions, but this year, I’m also including a category of ‘sporting phrases’ that can pretty much encompass anything, but will also have a tenuous connection to sport. That sounds overly intimidating, but trust me, it’s really not. Plus I reckon this round of SISI is easy.

Win A Free Bet

Send your answer to competitions@paddypower.com with the subject line ‘My resolution for 2012 is to be more jammy’. Or don’t bother, it doesn’t really matter. You’re allowed more than one guess, but your most recent answer is the one that will count. As ever, don’t put your answers in the comment section below, because they won’t count for the competition and might give one of your mortal enemies a vital clue in their pursuit of glory and a free bet. You can use the comments section for having a bit of a chat or begging for clues, but DO NOT USE IT FOR SUBMITTING YOUR ANSWER.

The prize on offer will start off as a €/£50 Free Bet, but hopefully will grow to be substantially bigger thanks to the power of the internet and bothering your friends with crap they don’t really care about. Simply retweet this tweet or share this competition on Facebook, LinkedIn or Google+. Every time that happens, we’ll add €/£ to the eventual prize fund. Generally speaking there haven’t been a whole lot of correct answers in the last few competitions, so do it – you might very well be the one benefitting from your own altruism.

Get your answers in before 10am on Tuesday 17th January. If we have more than one correct answer – which happens most of the time, the winner will be drawn at random whenever I finish my All Bran. I’ll be hanging out on twitter during the week trying to start a fight with Joey Barton, so if you feel the need you can direct any questions to @PaddyPowerAidan. Or leave them in the comments section.

Best of luck.

Conditions
- Customers must be over the age of 18, have a valid paddypower.com account and be old enough to remember Police Academy the first time around and realise a remake is a terrible idea.
- Maximum size of the free bet will be €/£150.
- Paddy Power decision is final and moaning will be ridiculed.

Happy New Year to you. Love it – here we go again – great stuff !
I’ve been getting withdrawal symptoms . . . by the way, are you Roy Walker in disguise (“say whay you see” ?!)

  2. Aidan January 11, 2012 at 12:59 pm #

    Cheers Keith F.

I like the positivity – it fits in with my new outlook for 2012 which I’m hoping will last until at least Thursday lunchtime. No, I’m not Roy Walker in disguise (does Roy Walker really need a disguise? And if so what’s he up that requires a disguise?) and although the name of the game does give a nod towards the great man, I would point out (to his lawyers in particular) it is legally different!

Best of luck with the comp.

Yes, your guess for number 2 isn’t right and in fact it’s a little bit crazy.

In fairness, you’re not as far away as the end product may suggest, so keep trying.
