If you’re reading this pre-the weekend start here:
Wow, there’s a massive weekend of sport to look forward to. The 6 Nations starts, the Premier League continues with it’s usual array of talent and tantrums and we’re going to see some freakishly big American muscles being flexed over in Indianapolis. But that’s enough about Madonna’s half-time show because the Super Bowl is also on. Boom boom.
If you’re reading this after the weekend start here:
Wow, what a massive weekend of sport that was! What about the football, that was great. And the rugby, well, what more can you say about the rugby? Let’s just say I’d say very few physios carry butter in their medical kits, but they might now after that limb had to be removed from that man’s orifice. And then there was the Super Bowl! It says a lot when Madonna is much more butch than both of the quarterbacks.
Anyway, it’s a big weekend of sport and to keep things vaguely topical, I’ve a bumper edition of Whose Career Is It Anyway?. I’m looking to test your overall knowledge of sport, rather than just one so there’s three rounds, each corresponding with one of the major sports happening this weekend. The rules remain pretty much the same as always except we’re asking you for three answers as opposed to the usual one. There are some minor caveats to that, so have a quick read of the instructions above each picture before you get the thinking caps on and the brains whirring in motion.
Football
It’s pretty much the same as always – each flag represents a club this man or woman played for in his or her senior career, with one exception on this occasion. It’s all the clubs this player has played for EXCEPT FOR one in the USA which I removed because it would make it too obvious. Apart from that, it includes loan deals and permanent deals and there’s not much more to it.

Rugby
This is a bit more complicated on account of the amount of time this person spent playing in southern Wales. The ‘x3′ means this person represented this club in three separate spells and the flag floating over the Irish Sea connected to two flags on the map doesn’t represent a new motorway that connects a random rock to the mainland, it’s my attempt to communicate a club that had it’s home in two different towns. Apart from that, all you need to know is it’s all the clubs this person played senior rugby for.

NFL
Because most players don’t tend to do a whole lot of chopping and changing, the flags in this case correspond to this player’s college and professional teams. If it helps, it’s one college team and three NFL franchises. It’s not as complicated as I’m making out.

Send your answer to competitions@paddypower.com with the subject line ‘This is harder than arm-wrestling Madonna’. Or don’t, it doesn’t really make any difference to your entry. DON’T PUT YOUR ANSWERS IN THE COMMENTS SECTION – you’ll only be helping an opponent and giving me license to take the piss out of you. You’re allowed more than one guess, but it’s your most recent guess that will count for the competition so if you had 3/3 right in your first attempt and then had a rethink that means you dropped back to 2/3 correct, then the 2/3 will count. Sorry, tough chestnuts. So that’s it, questions, observations and begging for hints in the comments sections, but NO ANSWERS.
The prize starts off as a €/£50 Free Bet, but will grow by one euro or pound for every time this tweet gets retweeted or every time this competition gets shared on Facebook, Google+ or LinkedIn. That should boost the fund rather substantially and you might win that prize, so you should definitely do it. In the event we get more than one set of three correct answers, the winner shall be drawn from my hat of mystery.
Get your answers in before 10am on Tuesday 7th February and announce the winner soon after. I’ll answers any questions in the comments section or alternatively on twitter where I’m @PaddyPowerAidan. Best of luck.
Conditions
- Customers must be over the age of 18, have a valid paddypower.com account and be old enough to remember when the most embarrassing thing about Newcastle was Fog On The Tyne and not Geordie Shore.
- Maximum size of the free bet will be €/£150.
- Paddy Power decision is final and moaning will be ridiculed.

Did the Rugby player also have a stint on an oil rig?
Think I have 2 but this Rugby player is going to take some working out !
are the flags in the right area, there`s not a southport flag where a stockport 1 should`ve been is there? sorry to ask aidan but i`ve been hurt in the past
. . . . presumably psychologically, by your Geography teacher sitting you in the corner for not paying attention.
You can’t WIN anything following advertise specials odds on football!!
Hi Aidan,
Am I in the proverbial headpiece?
Yes you are. Congrats Gary.
Hi Aidan
Entry is in….can I put my feet up or do I need to get the thinking cap back out the cupboard?
Yes, you are in the hat, but I wouldn’t put your feet up.
Excellence never sleeps and you should spend the time researching for future bumper editions of WCIIA?
What was the answer to last week’s whose career is it anyway?
Am i in the hat aidan?
First one was the hardest by a mile I reckon. I’m fairly convinced I’ve got the other 2 right but I could be way off on the football.
That was difficult, fairly sure I got the NFL/Rugby lads, but I just couldn’t make the link wiith the footballer.
From the map, it seemed that it was Man United/Man City, and there are no players that have played for them that have followed that Career Path.(As far as I can see)
I await eagerly the answers.
