Paddy Power are paying six places on the Memorial Tournament

This year’s PGA Memorial Tournament starts on Thursday at the Murfield Village Golf Club in Ohio, and looks more competitive than ever.

American Steve Stricker is looking to defend his title against some of the world’s best, in the last major tournament before the US Open.

Stricker edged out Matt Kuchar and Brandt Jobe for the trophy last June despite spending more time in the sand then David Hasselhoff.

With 19 previous major winners in the field, one again Paddy Power will pay out six places on the Memorial Trophy.

This is the tenth golf special of the year and so far paying the extra places has cost Paddy Power over €1million already.

Rory McIllroy, Luke Donald and Bubba Watson are in the mix as well as nine previous winners of the tournament. Tiger Woods has won this tournament a record four times and is 14/1 to scoop the $1.1m prize.

Eight of the world’s top 10 players are out on course in a fiercely hot contest, perfecting their game before the US Open.

Other bookies refuse to go six places but Paddy Power thinks it’s only fair as punters try to find a winner in a field that’s hotter than Tiger’s love life.
