CRASH DOWN UNDER: Villeneuve is helped away from a smash in Melbourne
Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve has told today’s drivers they are driving like ‘they are in a video game’.
The 41-year-old has warned of a serious accident unless the quality of driving improves.
‘There seems to be very little common sense on the racetrack’, the Canadian told The Sun. ‘There is no respect amongst them and they do things that should never happen in Formula One’.
‘Everybody’s fallen asleep on the fact F1 is dangerous, they all think it’s a video game. It’s not. It’s very, very dangerous.’
Lewis Hamilton is the 7/2 favourite for the race. The McLaren driver has not tasted success yet this season, but with six different winners already this year it wouldn’t be a surprise if that became seven.
Mark Webber finally found his pace in the Red Bull and won in Monaco in the last race. The Australian is a massive 9/1 to make it back-to-back wins here in Canada.
Last year’s race was won by his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Vettel hasn’t tasted success since Bahrain and is a tasty 6/1 to take the chequered flag.
The Championship leader is Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. The fiery Spaniard has been on the podium in the last two races and is 5/1 to succeed in Montreal.
