Ruby Walsh: Ireland’s goose is cooked at Euro 2012

Top Jock Ruby Walsh thinks Ireland’s goose is cooked at Euro 2012.

“It might be a bit unpatriotic but I think Ireland are goosed to be honest,” Walsh told the Paddy Power blog team.

“Ireland were out classsed by Croatia on Sunday night and it doesn’t look like it will get any easier.

“I watched the Italy v Spain game beforehand and for all the talk of how bad Italy were, they didn’t look too bad to me.

“I tipped Russia at the start of Euro 2012 and won’t abandon them now.

“They were impressive against the Czech Republic, Germany were good and Croatia played Ireland off the park.

“I think the French will win tonight against England,” Walsh added.

“England are a team of individuals and that’s no use in a tournament.

“They’re good players but they’re not great. I think France will do England.

“I wouldn’t know enough about the Ukraine or Sweden for that matter to offer an opinion.

“There’s a lot of good sides in it, it’s almost more competitive than a World Cup. The last eight will be very tough. I was a bit disappointed with the Netherlands but the Germans should be thereabouts.”
