Roy Keane wants Giovanni Trapattoni to make 11 changes for tomorrow’s game against Italy.
Ignoring the fact that UEFA would throw the book at Ireland for fielding a weakened team (against Trap’s homeland, no less), Roy is in trouble as there are only 23 squad members here – including three goalkeepers.
Assuming Roy, who hasn’t had a job as a manager in a while, hasn’t forgotten you can only play one goalkeeper, then that leaves us with just ten outfield options, and he’s already said that NOT ONE player has performed well for Ireland.
So, some of the players in the all new XI are players that have already flopped. But hey, who cares about logic when you’re on a rant…
Here’s the team we think Roy would pick if he could;
Keane; Keane, Keane, Keane, Keane; Keane, Keane, Keane, Keane; Keane, Keane.
Ok, ok, if that team isn’t possible, due to retirement or an unwillingness to put his country ahead of a personal gripe then this is the other XI:
Westwood; Kelly, O’Dea, McShane; McClean, Green, Gibson, Hunt; Long, Walters, Cox.
Anyone see that team giving the fans anything to sing about?
lets not include any players from the championship in future squads. just not up to this level. ok against teams outside top 50 in world but found out against anybody who can pass a ball. the players dont have to retire but they should be told its a fresh squad for world cup 2014 and nobody is guaranteed a place. robbie keane is past it so is duff. everyone is dirt. mcgeady plays good for 30 minutes against bosnia and he is claimed as a superstar. he never does anything in a green shirt and has been given plenty chances. we need ballers mclean gibson long mcarthy are not the best but we have to go with them. conor henderson got injured last year. may he will get a loan from arsenal because he looks an exciting talent. our style of play needs to change. and i dont think trapatoni is the man to do it. he is a 1 trick pony and that pony is old. trap needs to realise football has moved on. armenia and slovakia were technically better footballers than us in the qualifers and thats a sad truth. the future is bleak and traps team has run its course. we need a fresh ideas. swansea went to premiership with a limited team but played it on the ground and got rewarded. im calling for him to go. bored the arse of us too much.
