Ruby Walsh gives Paddy Power punters his top tips ahead of Day 4 of the Royal Ascot Festival.
2.30 AlbanyStakes 6f
Richard Hughes rides Tassel but Richard Hannon two-year-olds hven’t fired like they normally do and I’d fancy Mick Channon’s Sandreamer ridden by Martin Harley.
3.05 King Edward VII Stakes 1m4f
If there a horse like Nathaniel (last year’s winner) in the field it will win but which one it is I don’t know. John Gosden has two in it with Shantaram and Thought Worthly and you’d think Shantaram is the stable’s best as he’s ridden by William Buick.
Ryan Moore rides Astrology for Aidan O’Brien as the weight of 8-14 is just beyond Joesph O’Brien at the moment He was third in the Derby behind Camelot but it’s a very open race.
3.45 Coronation Stakes 1M
Joesph (O’Brien) has gone for Homecoming Queen who likes a cut in the ground.
4.25 Wolferton Handicap 1m 2f
A very difficult race and a low draw is a major advantage here. The start is so close to Swinley Bottom and the bend into the straight that those drawn on the outside have to run so much further to get on terms. Go for something with a low draw. It’s impossible to say otherwise.
5.00 Queen’s Vase 2m
Athens has a chance but I like the unexposed horse Estimate at the bottom for Ryan Moore and Michael Stoute. It has only had two runs but they’re stepping it up to two miles and that’s a sign in itself. He was very impressive at Salisbury last time and you wonder where they’re going with him. He could be an Irish St Leger horse later this year or even an English St Leger horse.
5.35 Buckingham Palace Stakes 7f
There a re 29 runners over 7f in this. If you’re losing at this stage you may look to Ayr for a winner! Wouldn’t be my idea of a race to win a few quid in. I’d only be guessing.
