“I’m getting closer.”
Those were the first words a teary Andy Murray (25) could manage after his gut-wrenching defeat to record-breaking Roger Federer (30) in the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday.
This YouTube video of the Scotsman everybody loves to hate will earn him some more fans, no doubt — aside from celebs such as David Beckham, wife Victoria and the Middleton sisters who watched his performance.
Murray’s speech to his adoring British fans afterwards reminded us that not every sportsman is a robot like Roger. Sometimes we like our heroes a little more fragile.
And if tears were match-winning shots, Andy would have a Grand Slam title by now. Good luck next time, fella.
