Redknapp favourite to take over at Notts Forest

Harry Redknapp is favourite to become Nottingham Forest’s new managerafter Steve Cotterill was sacked by the club this morning.

The former Tottenham boss – who was the firm favourite for the England manager’s job before Roy Hodgson’s appointment – has been linked to a number of jobs since his departure from Spurs last month.

Other names in the frame include Darren Ferguson, former Forest favourite Roy Keane and ex-Wolves and Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy.

Forest were taken over by the Kuwait-based Al-Hasawi family on Monday night who have wasted no time in signalling their intent of taking the club into the Premier League.

The Midlands club have fallen into decline since their relegation in 1993 in what was Brian Clough’s last game in charge and are scheduled to start a pre-season tour of America on Monday.
