Glenn Hoddle has seen plenty of support to become the new Nottingham Forest manager and is now 8/11 for the job. Hoddle is renowned for being a little bit ‘out there’, but the former England gaffer’s managerial stats speak volumes.
Hoddle won more than 60% of games as England manager in the two-and-a-half years he was in charge, a record that is only bettered by Fabio Capello and Sir Alf Ramsey. Whether this was down to Hoddle’s management skills or the faith healer he employed we will never know.
If Glenn Hoddle isn’t crazy enough, cuddly Cork man Roy Keane is also getting backed at 5/2 from 6/1. In between growing a psycho beard and berating the Irish squad, Keane has spent a lot of time on ITV looking like he is one more crap pun away from beating Adrian Chiles to death. That man needs a hobby and the Forest job could be the answer.
Following on the mental theme you can also back Diego Maradona at 25/1.
Elsewhere, in a slightly more sane world, ‘Big’ Mick McCarthy is a front-runner for the job. He has been out of work since getting the boot from the Wolves but the gritty Yorkshire man knows how to drag a team kicking and screaming in to the Premier League. He is 9/4 to take the job at the City Ground. Darren Ferguson isn’t far behind at 4/1 to land the role.
Forest were taken over by the Kuwait-based Al-Hasawi family on Monday night who have wasted no time in signalling their intent of taking the club into the Premier League.
