Chelsea defender John Terry has been found not guilty of a racially aggravated public order offence involving QPR’s Anton Ferdinand. Terry was charged after he was seen mouthing the words ‘f****** black c***’ in Ferdinand’s direction during Chelsea’s defeat against QPR at Loftus Road on October 23, 2011.
Outside the court, Chelsea fans had released a banner: “JT: Captain, leader, legend.”
Terry left the court just before 2.30pm wearing a grey suit with a grey tie to cheers from supporters. Full judgement is here, but it’s rather long.
Paddy Power has now made John Terry a long shot at 250/1 for BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year and 50/1 for PFA Player of the Year 2012/2013.
And we’re 8/1 on John Terry to be England captain for the first World Cup qualifying game against Moldova in September with 4/1 for him to be captain for the first World Cup game in 2014 in Brazil.

This wasn’t the result many people had wanted, but just because John Terry comes accross as an arrogant, oafish chav at times and plays for a team they don’t support, this does not make him guilty of a deplorable crime.
