Rory McIlroy is now being talked about in the same breath as Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus after his stunning eight-stroke win in the US PGA Championship at Kiawah Island on Sunday.
The 23-year-old is 7/4 to win between 9 and 11 Majors in Paddy Power’s online betting as he looks to overhaul Nick Faldo’s six majors and is 9/2 to win more majors than Woods.
McIlroy is also 9/2 to win the 2013 US Masters next April, 15/2 to win the US Open next year and 9/1 to win the only European Major on tour, the Open Championship. But if you think he’ll save the best for last again next year, McIlroy is 12/1 to retain the Wanamaker Trophy.
Before any of that though McIlroy, who also regained his World No 1 crown, will line out for the European Ryder Cup side that face the United States at the Medinah Club, Illinois from September 28-30.
Paddy Power bet 7/1 that the Holywood native will be the Ryder Cup leading points scorer and 14/1 that he copies compatriot Graeme McDowell and holes the winning put in a little under two months’ time.
