The biggest hurling clash of the year and it’s going to be a real mouth-watering contest in the All-Ireland semi-final between Kilkenny and Tipperary.
It’s nine years since two of the top counties in hurling have faced each other in a semi-final though Kilkenny won their Allianz League clash 2-17 to 0-15 earlier in the season. Most anticipated that it would be Kilkenny’s year again but their shock defeat to Galway – at the time – in the Leinster Final has tempered this view.
Everyone is looking at this game as the ‘real’ All-Ireland with teams who have contested the last two Liam MacCarthy finales at Croke Park in September.
Kilkenny are a wounded animal and tis is going to be a huge game for them on Sunday. There’ll be very little in this but my head is telling me to go with Tipperary at 6/4. They’re fresher than Kilkenny and even though they may start off slowly in their first game back for five weeks, I think they’ll play themselves into the game and come out on top.
Lar Corbett to score the first goal stands out for me at 6/1.
He’s 100% focused and has all the boxes ticked for this game. I think he’ll play a huge part in the outcome of Sunday’s clash.
