Rodgers 2/1 not to last full season at Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers

YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE? Brendan might get his marching orders quicker than he thinks if performances don’t improve sharpish

The reaction to Liverpool’s worst opening day defeat in 75  years has been swift as Brendan Rodgers is 2/1 not to last a full season in charge at Anfield.

Rodgers took over the hot seat from ‘King’ Kenny Dalglish who guided Liverpool to two Cup finals last season winning the Carling Cup on penalties against Cardiff City and going down 2-1  to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

But yesterday’s result mirrored the Reds poor League performances which is the ultimate yardstick by which the former Swansea boss will be judged.

Rodgers is now just a 7/2 chance to get an unwanted festive present of the sack in Paddy Power’s online betting and be out the door by Christmas day.

Liverpool’s loyal supporters will point to erratic refereeing decisions by Phil Dowd and Daniel Agger’s 57th minute dismissal as major factors in the scoreline.

But with Luis Suarez squandering two good chances and the defence in disarray for on-loan Chelsea striker Lukaka’s 77th minute strike, Rodgers will need to get a grip quickly before the visit of champions Manchester City next Sunday.
