Are you the best footballer in the world?

“The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.”
– Bertrand Russell

At the top level of any sport you need to be confident in your own ability. However there is a fine line between confidence and self-delusion.

Nicklas Bentdner for example.

“Within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world. Trust me, it will happen. I look around at other players, I see my own ability and I can’t see anything that tells me it won’t happen.”

He made the above claim three years ago. We’re not saying it definitely won’t happen for him in the next two years but unless there are a sequence of tragedies which wipes out the thousands of players between him and the top spots, it probably won’t.

For now the debate rages as to whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world but there are other candidates. If your name is Neymar or Iniesta for example or you share Nicklas Bendtner’s ridiculously high levels of self-belief in your abilities, then follow the below flowchart to find out whether or not you are in fact the best footballer in the world today.

Ah, this is more like it. The picture of Messi also initiated my laughter function.

Please accept a weird picture of a youthful (and therefore more innocent and trustworthy) version of Thierry Henry as thanks, and to further supplement that Friday Feeling.
