Ruby Walsh exclusive: Rory O’Moore is top Tipp

Ruby Walsh

Top jock Ruby Walsh on today’s jumps action at Tipperary’s mixed card.

I’ve chosen Galway Plate third Blackstairmountain (3.40) in the Grade Two hurdle over Thousand Stars because he’s been in all summer and is fit and well. Paul Townend will ride stablemate Thousand Stars and his main target is the Autumn Hurdle in France on November 3rd over three miles and he’s had a good break since he won the French Champion hurdle.

It wouldn’t be the first time I got off Thousand Stars and got it wrong but two miles around Tipperary might be a bit sharp for him today.

Galway Hurdle winner Rebel Fitz is the one we all have to beat in my opinion. He’s won well here again since winning the Galway Hurdle and sets the standard today.

Emmet Mullins rides Passage Vendome (4.10) for Willie (Mullins) and this one seems in good nick. Won well at Bellewstown. Whatever Jacksays  drops back in trip to 2m since winning over 2m4f at Listowel and is the one to beat.

Sweet My Lord (5.15) was disappointing at Listowel the last day for no apparent reason and I don’t know if you could say with certainty that he’d reverse that form with Pride of the Artic today.

Patrick rides Who’s Cross (5.45) in the bumper and this one has a decent bit of form and is going well at home. But Ronnie O’Neill’s Rory O’ Moore could be the one to beat. Looks a horse with a lot of ability and loves to bowl along in front. Tipperary being a front-runner’s track could really suit him.
