Taison Barcellos Freda, to give him his full name, proved that the Europa League isn’t simply a poorly exposed graveyard for European football’s also rans. The Brazilian scored a volley for Metalist Kharkiv in their 3-1 home win over Rosenborg which was reminiscent of the great Marco van Basten’s wonder goal for Holland against the now defunct USSR in Euro ’88.
