Football

There is a bucket-load of Premier League action to enjoy tonight serving up a stunning midweek treat. The pick of the games is Liverpool’s trip to White Hart Lane to face Spurs. Andre Villas-Boas had been under a little pressure at Tottenham but his team were impressive when they dismantled West Ham at the weekend. Liverpool have been struggling for goals all season and once again there will be plenty of pressure on Luis Suarez.

Rafa Benitez will be looking for his first win as Chelsea manager when they host Fulham and Alan Pardew’s injury stricken Newcastle face a daunting trip to the Brittania to play Stoke. High-flying West Brom have a trip to Swansea and Southampton play Norwich as they look for another valuable three points near the bottom of the table. The two Manchester clubs are also in action with City going away to Wigan and West Ham making the trip to Old Trafford to face United.

Last night Aston Villa beat Reading 1-0 to move out of the relegation zone with Christian Benteke heading home the winner with just 10 minutes remaining. QPR are still looking for their first win of the season as they drew 0-0 with Sunderland. Harry Redknapp has got considerable work to do if he is to save the Hoops from the drop.

Racing

Racing today comes from Kempton, Lingfield and Limerick.

The meetings at Fontwell, Wetherby and Southwell have been abandoned due tothe terrible weather.

The Sun newspaper’s top tipster Templegate fancies a big run from Rockalong in the 6.30pm at Kempton.

He was the only horse to give smart prospect Hanseatic a race at Lingfield last time and was probably better than the bare result as he stuck to the unfavoured rail up the straight.
