Liverpool’s lack of attacking options for the West Ham game at Upton Park on Sunday afternoon threw Jonjo Shelvey into the role usually reserved for the Reds’ No1 striking outlet this season, Luis Suarez.
Well, some of Paddy Power’s customers will be at least a little thankful tonight that Brendan Rodgers has such limited options. That’s because we rolled out another of our famous Justice Payouts after some commentators, including @paddypower, credited the chrome-domed destroyer with the crucial third goal, to help seal a 3-2 win over the Hammers. Replays showed West Ham’s James Collins put the ball into his own net, under pressure from Shelvey (and who wouldn’t buckle with the sight of Jonjo breathing down your neck, in fairness…)
Jonjo Shelvey has managed to squirm the ball into the net! 3-2 Liverpool. Would that be 3 wins in a week for them?—

A summit was quickly convened and after several pints and three toasted ham sandwiches, Paddy decided to pay out on Jonjo Shelvey in the following markets for the West Ham v Liverpool game…
- Pre-match bets: First goalscorer, anytime goalscorer, Wincast (Shelvey & Liverpool), Last Goalscorer (Shelvey)
- Betting in running: Fifth goalscorer (Shelvey)
Ho, ho, ho… who’s your Paddy? This, combined with the RVP payout, means the kids are getting mugs of water for Christmas.
