Arsenal are pretty much out of the Champions League after Bayern Munich thumped them 3-1 at the Emirates on Tuesday evening. Barring a miracle over in Germany it will mean an eighth trophy-less year for Arsene Wenger who is under massive pressure.
Goals from Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller gave Munich a 2-0 lead going into half-time and the Germans were comfortable. The opening first half looked about as much effort as a half-hearted training session. So much so that if Manuel Nueur hadn’t been wearing those four-fingered gloves he could have read a decent book without being too worried.
The fight-back was kinda on in the second half when Lukas Podolski pulled one back but Mario Mandzukic restored Bayern’s two goal cushion. Last year’s runners-up were effective and clinical and the worrying thing is they looked like they could have stepped it up if they wanted to.
After pretty much going out of two cups in four days it was no surprise to see the Twitter backlash, headed of course by Piers Morgan.

Arsenal of old would of gotten right amongst Bayern tonight. This team just doesn't have the nastiness needed to win things.—

FACT: There are 3 things you can see from space – 1. The Great Wall of China. 2. Gervinho's forehead. 3. The Gap in Arsenal's defence.—

I'm not going to comment on the Bayern game as it's rude to intrude on private grief.—

That's what happens when an average team plays a very good one. Wilshere, as almost every other week, Arsenal's best player by some way.—

Jack Wilshere looks like he feels exactly how we all feel. Heartbroken. I wonder how many other players are feeling like that.—
