Play Catchphrase and win a free €/£50 Free Bet!!

by Rob Dore | March 12, 2013

Today’s competition is over. Kenneth Ball correctly “guessed” the answer ‘a little knowledge is a dangerous thing’.

A glitch with the image may have allowed some to see the final image prematurely. Without proof or the desire to find proof I’ll simply be correcting the issue for tomorrow’s competition and congratulating Kenneth for finding the grift.

==========================================

The problem with such a long running and popular quiz like our world famous Catchphrase competition is that every year we’re compelled to come up with a brand new set of images to depict phrases we haven’t used before. Which is getting increasingly tougher as the years tumble by.

Only a late flurry of caffeine fueled, unhinged creativity has saved the day this year. However it does mean that this year’s catchphrase games may be the most surreal yet. I’ve steeled myself for a torrent of abuse to be thrown my way when I finally release the answer.

The good news is you get the chance to win a £/€50 free bet for playing a guessing game in between making your bets and watching the racing.

Well let’s get to it. Here’s how it works.

  • Below is an image which is meant to depict a known phrase. (We’ve used up all the ‘well known’ phrases)
  • The image will be revealed to you one square at a time, at a rate of one square every 20 minutes or so.
Each participant is allowed two guesses per square revealed.
  • If no one has answered correctly by the time the final square is revealed then you can have as many guesses as you like.
  • The first person to guess correctly wins a €/£50 free bet
  • You must have a Paddy Power account to be awarded the free bet.
  • All rules can be massaged or manipulated as I see fit.
  • Answer in the comments section below.
  • Now start your guessing!

Eh…this has never happened before. One square down and we have a winner.
It does appear as though there’s a glitch with the images, allowing a clever person to eventually view it without the squares. I suspect it has been taken advantage of but I’ve no way of proving it so Kenneth Ball is the winner with “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing”. Well done Ken.

will I receive this free bet?

    32. Rob said on March 14, 2013 @ 9:52 am

It’s already in your account mate. I used your email address as the reference. However if you use a different email address on your PP account or you have multiple accounts with the same email then this may explain why you’re not seeing your free bet. Let me know what the situation is with your accounts and I’ll transfer the free bet if necessary.

    33. James Ball said on March 14, 2013 @ 9:54 am

I’ve only got one account, it doesn’t say anything about a free bet

    34. Rob said on March 14, 2013 @ 10:03 am

There are two accounts coming up. I’ll have a look in to it now. The bet will be in your account shortly.

    35. James Ball said on March 14, 2013 @ 11:30 am

I have received the bet now, thank you.

    36. Rob said on March 14, 2013 @ 11:46 am

Good stuff. Apologies for the mix up.
