The Premiership Handicap Is Back!

In a sense it never went away - we’re still updating the table so that you can find out how your bet is looking. But the big news is that our football traders have shown the sort of fearless attitude that made them famous and stepped back into the fray!

Yes, you can start punting again on the most interesting market in football. Of course this has nothing to do with Hull having failed to win any of their last six matches. Oh no. Despite their poor recent form, however, Hull remain the hot 1/3 favourites to take this title. They’ve already racked up 79 points and we reckon mid-90s is what you need to win. That means another 18 points from 23 games should see them home.

But they have challengers. Stoke are only seven points adrift and their recent form suggests a possible title challenge. 9/1 looks tempting and the Potters would like nothing better than giving us a metaphorical poke in the eye (or a real one come to that) after we paid out on them being relegated on the first day of the season.

Elsewhere the only realistic challengers from the upper reaches of the table are Liverpool (16/1) and Aston Villa (14/1) but both these clubs have a lot to do. As far as our boffins are concerned the contest won’t be won from the front - Chelsea and Manchester United are effectively out of it.

Check out the table here!

Hmm I dont think Chelsea are out of it. If they hit a run of form like they have done in the past they could rake up a lot of points in the second half of the season.

I would like to back one against Hull but they are looking v solid for this title

  2. Sully Says:

How much of a handicap is Robbie Keane

  3. tonton zola mokouko Says:

  9. tonton zola mokouko Says:

as everyone knows, i’m ghanian but grew up in sweden. derby county were my first love but it didn’t work out. my pal bojan djordjic was on united’s books at the time so i started following them and haven’t looked back since.

to be fair, the one thing you can’t accuse liverpool fans of is being gloryhunters. it brings all sorts of oxymorons into play.

  10. Renown Says:

Why not show all divisions handicap status in-running , and not just the prem?

  11. Phill Says:

Glad to see you back in the market, will you be offering EW terms?

  12. karim Says:

I backed Hull on the handicap at 4/7 in September.. I think if the manage to get +100 points on the handicap system then paddys will pay out. i also went for Sunderland at 11/1 as they had a 41 point handicap but the way they are playing at the moment would suggest that they will probably end up with that amount lol.

  13. Lins Says:

How can you say your traders are ‘fearless’ when at the start of the season you gave the impression you’d be updating this blog more-or-less every week, including updating and offering the latest odds?

(no odds currently being offered, and it’s been this way for a couple of weeks now, at least).

Are your traders scared or bored (or hibernating)!? ;-)

  14. Phill Says:

    Hello, any response to Lins?
    where are your fearless traders?

  15. Lins Says:

Wakey wakey!… Earth to Tom, come in Tom!

To quote this page… “In a sense it never went away… (we just can’t be ar$ed)” (Dec. 2nd).

(Phill, glad to hear that you agree with me, and there actually is some other sign of life here!).

  19. Lins Says:

    Rob, Thanks for the info.

Just tried the link… it says “This market is currently unavailable”.

Julie - Thanks for the other link… another interesting related market… will have to have a think about that one! Why don’t Paddy Power put a link to that from here? (very strange!)

  20. Julie B Says:

The link is active again Lins

  21. Phill Says:

“The link is active again Lins ”

    Oh no it isn’t !!

  22. javatips.110mb.com Says:

    Thank you for the table

In my opinion Aston Villa now have lower form and they will more hard to reach upper table

  23. John holmes Says:

I backed WEST HAM on Feb 10th @8-1 to WIN the PREMIER LEAGUE H”CAP with a 38 Point start.Looking OK at the moment,Top with a combined total of 77 Points with 10 Games left. Not the hardest run in left and looking forward to collecting a few quid after THE HAMMERS beat Middlesbro at home on May 24th.HAPPY DAYS.

  24. Lins Says:

Tom, just wondering when you’re going to update this blog and the table, please?

The table is several weeks out-of-date, showing only 30 games played by the ‘top’ teams when they’ve actually now played 32. I’m interested as I have a bet on Fulham - it’s looking like a three-way battle between them, Hull and Stoke, with only a point separating them:

    Hull 90 pts
    Stoke 90 pts
    Fulham 89 pts

Wigan and Villa (especially) have gone off the boil…

  25. Lins Says:

Looking increasingly like it’ll hinge on the following fixtures:

    Saturday, 25 April 2009
    Barclays Premier League
    Fulham v Stoke, 15:00

    Saturday, 09 May 2009
    Barclays Premier League
    Hull v Stoke, 15:00 (hoping this’ll be a draw! :-)

  26. Dollboy Says:

LADS cant believe PP hasn,t paid out on Munster for the magners league in all fairness their a bigger cert than old whiskey nose,s team.Like the faster he gives it to us the faster he gets it back (in theory anyway ) Now paddy paY US OUT NOW AND WE CAN GET LANGERS FOR THE WEEK.

  27. Lins Says:

So, Paddy Power traders, I’ve had a look at the (finally!) updated table, and I STILL don’t see any latest odds! Tom, you were talking out of your ar$e, weren’t you?
