I don’t know who the guerilla artist is that “art-punked” our Taoiseach but whoever he is made me chuckle today! I probably wouldn’t have batted an eyelid at RTE’s report until the station bizarrely issued a public apology to the Taoiseach the next day!

Apparently the Taoiseach’s office was none too happy to view RTE’s report and gave the state broadcaster a little slap on the wrist. Seemed like a wee bit of an over-reaction to me but I could half understand why Cowen might have been disgruntled at a not too flattering pic of him on the bog!

But then…lo and behold, I read that the Gardai have launched an investigation (witch hunt if you ask me!) into the matter. They even went as far as visiting Today FM in an attempt to uncover info which would help them catch the little culprit! And do what exactly? Slap him on the knuckles with his paintbrush? Has Brian Cowen gone bonkers?

Come on now lads, haven’t the Gardai got bigger fish to fry instead of wasting their time and energy on a petty prankster?

With the toughest budget ever to face Ireland just around the corner, now would be a very good time for BIFFO to have a sense of humour, and it might be an idea for “the powers that be” to remember that we live in a democracy! Nothing like a bita people power to bring those that go too far crashing back to earth!

While they’re contemplating the notion of free speech they might even want to have a flutter on Mary Harney to be in the frame next at 5/2!
