i have a good joke. MAN UNITED SIGNING MICHAEL OWEN. hahahahahahah

  11. lfc lad Says:

not many comments from tonton and the rest of united muppets since the departure of ronaldo and tevez and the quality replacements of valencia and OWEN?????

  12. tonton zola mokouko Says:

    EH UP LAAAAA!!

it’s touching you value my input so highly so here goes:

ronaldo - disappointing to see him go. best player in the world and would be a loss to any team, but this day was always coming. hopefully we should progress as a team without him, with rooney playing a more central, pivotal role. i stand by my view that rooney is still the most important player at united (especially when we’re not playing well).

tevez - genuinely not fussed about him leaving. i’ve always said he’s an overrated player who worked very hard, but his end product was way below what is expected. scorer of some imprtant goals, but all in all goal tally not good enough. played well in last 6 weeks of last season, but prior to that was pretty dire all season. not a loss.

valencia - been impressed whenever i’ve seen him play, but obviously playing for england’s top team in the champions league is a big step up. huge potential, with bags of pace and skill - could well be an excellent player for us, but has it all to prove and needs to improve goal tally. exciting signing, but clearly he’s not ronaldo (just yet!).

owen - intriguing signing. financially it’s very low risk, and it might just work. excellent goalscorer who’ll be playing in a team that creates chances for fun and if he stays reasonably fit, he’ll score goals. he’s not going to be a first choice starter, but then neither was tevez, and the extra goal threat he brings, might just make this signing a stroke of genius. has plenty to prove that he can still do it though - but he’s at the right club with the right manager to bring the best back out of him.

all in all - not too disappointed with our transfer business since ronaldo left - after all we’re still favourites to win the league - which i firmly believe we will. although we could do with 1 or 2 more players if we’re serious about regaining the champions league.

i see the dippers have spent 18m on glen johnson - which is surely the biggest joke of the summer? at least there aren’t many kazakh left wingers in the premier league to give him sleepless nights though?!

  13. Danny Dyer Says:

all in all - not too disappointed with our transfer business since ronaldo left
Ton Ton wise up, an average PL player who hardly set the world alight at Wigan, and a player who has been finished for the last two seasons. Why don’t u admit that your season is over before it has started, your club is skint even after the sale of it’s best player, and that Champo’s League qualification is the best u can hope for. JT to bring the trophy home!

  14. Spud Says:

Would JT be bringing that to Citeh or to Chelsea?

  15. lfc lad Says:

how can you say 18m is overpriced when berbatov cost nearly twice that? when liverpool spent 30m on torres i remember doubters, now hes worth 100m in todays market. raffa rarely makes expensive mistakes like berbatov. ronaldo out/ valencia in ; no brainer, tevez out/ owen in ; even the most loyal united supporter would admit this is a big step backwards. dont forget giggs, scholes and neville are in your squad and need replaced., that will take a bit more than 80m. its an aging squad with an ever closer to retiring manager.good luck with the next few seasons.

  16. tonton zola mokouko Says:

genuinely regarding glen johnson - he’s a very average player. totally skinned by an unknown kazakh winger for england recently and defensively a huge liability. he’s like rafael da silva without all the huge potential. i genuinely don’t think he’s improved your team. berbatov on the other hand is an immensely talented footballer who it hasn’t quite clicked for yet at old trafford.

not too worried about the next few seasons. neville and scholes hardly played in any key matches last season, while giggs did well last year but has been on the way out for a while now. we still won the league and league cup and reached the final of the champions league. they don’t really need replacing as they’re no longer 1st team regulars.

berbatov had a very average 1st season, but his quality is undoubted and i think he’ll come good this year. if not, then it’s probably time to cut our losses. a great player to watch though (when he’s doing something!). despite his performance last year (and people make out that we carried him last year) - he still ended up with a league winner’s medal.

and regarding tevez - he’s really not that good. i’ve watched him over the last 2 years, and while he had some fantastic moments especially in the last 6 weeks of last season, the norm was actually pretty average. whether owen can improve on what he offered is something we’ll have to wait and see - but i just have this feeling that it has all the hallmarks of a ferguson masterstoke. time will tell.

  17. Spud Says:

Whilst I think 18m is too much for Glen Johnson 16m for Valencia is no shrewd piece of business either. Valencia 7 goals in 83 appearances for Wigan whilst Johnson had 5 in 68 for Portsmouth. Portsmouth were involved in a relegation battle until they had 2 games to play yet Johnson still made it into the PFA team of the season - he is more than an average player but will have this transfer fee thrown up at him until he proves that next season.
Valencia is only a year younger than Johnson with an inferior scoring record with a similar team yet he is said to have ‘huge potential’ - you should be a politician tonton!

  18. tonton zola mokouko Says:

valencia is already a very good player. has all the attributes to go on and be a top player and he’s at the right club to develop further - clearly has a bit to go.

i’ve never rated johnson - ever since he was at chelsea. he wouldn’t even be in the england team if wes brown had stayed fit last season - and that showing against kazakhstan has to be worrying for england fans. it reminds me very much of the robbie keane signing - pay too much for a player who will never have to talent to command a place in a top 4 team.

(although i remember people on here comparing keane to bergkamp and cantona - LOL!!).

  19. tonton zola mokouko Says:

having said that you have a point - 16m does seem expensive for valencia - but when you have a 100m transfer budget you can afford to do that.

18m seemed a lot for michael carrick back in the day - and look what a shrewd bit of business that’s turned out to be - couldn’t have worked out much better for any of the parties involved (except spurs!).

  20. Spud Says:

Valencia very good whilst Johnson very average?!?! Where are the stats to back that up? All bout opinion and yours is very much tainted by that Manc poison that runs through your blood.

  21. tonton zola mokouko Says:

spud - just giving my opinion - after all i watch football outside the big 4 teams - you should try it lad!

  22. Spud Says:

If you did watch outside th big 4 then you would have evidence to back up your opinion, feel like i am talking to Dolly Boy of lfc lad here - all mouth and no substance!

  23. tonton zola mokouko Says:

if you want to read stats off as if we’re playing championship manager then that’s fine.

i’ll stick to what i witness with my own eyes - johnson is an average player and hardly any improvement on arbeloa. not bad going forward, defensively a big liability. only reason he gets an england game is because a) wes brown has been injured, b) there’s nobody else (which is hugely depressing for england fans).

  24. lfc lad Says:

correct johnson isn’t any better than arbelloa,we are strengthning our squad not weakning it like united, two players for each position is the way raffa is going.

  25. tonton zola mokouko Says:

    LOL!! where to start?

    1. arbeloa is off to madrid - why they want him i don’t know, but he’s off. johnson is a replacement.

    2. i genuinely think rafael is as good a player as johnson - both good going forward, both can be liabilities when defending. only difference is rafael is young and will improve. wes brown is a better right back than both of them (england’s 1st choice before he got injured).

    3. there’s no doubt our midfield could do with strengthening. we need hargreaves to get fit and stay fit again. scholes is past it - but then he wasn’t a major player last season. anderson blows hot and cold, but will be a very good player (please don’t EVER compare him to lucas - LOL!!). park is a good squad player - regular 7/10 performer. fletcher was probably our most outstanding midfielder last season - will be a big player for us again this year. nani is dire - if he ever comes good i’ll be astounded. and anyone who doesn’t rate michael carrick doesn’t know anything about football.

    4. i’ll repeat it - tevez really isn’t that great a player and was far from one of our best players last year - good squad player, yes, but couldn’t even get in the 1st XI. i hope he goes to chelsea because he’s not got the talent to take a team from challengers to champions, but sadly i think he’ll end up at city where he will do well for them - get them up to challenge for 5th/6th.

    5. have any of you had a bet on who will win the league this season? lots of people running their mouths - but do you put your money where your mouth is? i’ve already backed united.

  26. lfc lad Says:

in all honesty i dont think united are finished buying yet ,i can see them getting ribbery + more, i would be surprised if the didn’t.but i hope not

  27. lfc lad Says:

ball bag BEGGING i is a lfc fan and i hate you more than man u . why?

  28. tonton zola mokouko Says:

i was never one of the fans “begging” tevez to stay - the whole “fergie sign him up” brigade were the old trafford day-trippers. he’s a good player and i’d have no problem with him staying - but he’s never going to be a 1st choice player and not fussed at all about him leaving. his comments since he left suggest he doesn’t have the patience to be a squad player at a big club in any case.

don’t want to labour the point about johnson - but he really is not a top 4 player - last time i had a feeling like this it was about robbie keane. but good luck with him anyway!

fair play to you sleeping bag - good to see lads putting their money where the mouth is - nothing worse than someone mouthing off and not backing up their chat. pity you’re on a loser though man!

  29. tonton zola mokouko Says:

“best team in the league” is an interesting view by the way!!

  30. lfc lad Says:

big rumour that ribbery is signing for the pool.

  31. lfc lad Says:

any chance paddy could organize a fantasy football league for us bloggers to compete in

  32. tonton zola mokouko Says:

hate to burst your bubble but ribery signing for liverpool is just that - a rumour. can’t see it happening AT ALL!

if you pulled that off it would be a huge statement though - not just for the coming season, but also about your financial situation.

  33. lfc lad Says:

its only a romour but heres wishing

  43. ban the cheats.. Says:

hello lads lets set up this little site to highlight cheating in racing.why dont we start with Heffernan on drumbeat last friday night,it was cheating at its most blatant and then he had the cheek to blame at the races for highlighting it.i personally hope he never rides a winner again because as far as im concerned he stole from peopleand i wonder how much money had he on the winner.

  44. Eamo F Says:

What race were u watching, he was obviously riding to the instructions given to him by AOB. The horse Drumbeat is a dog, who doesn’t want to know so he would have been beaten even further if they had of rode him differently. It was a great ride to nick it from the front, but to cane Heffernan for that is just a fav backer talking through his pocket

  45. ban the cheats.. Says:

thats fine with your opinion .i think you know what race i was watching, how come an 8/13 shot hit 6/4 before the off so ballydoyle had to have backed the winner.you should have watched the forum this morning its the first time i ever heard them slating a jockey.and as i say heffernan had not my interest at heart why should i care about him.i hope hes broke next year.and never rides a winner again.

  46. Eamo F Says:

Were u talking to the lads at Ballydoyle to hear that? The horse opened at 5/4 on the track and went to 11/8 nearly straight away. What forum were u watching as Richard Hughes and Spencer are always easy targets for punters talking through their pockets so to say that this is the first time u have seen this happen is a bit naive. Did u back the horse yourself? What value was there in backing a horse that has shown a very questionable attitude everytime he has run, against two or three others who had one or two decent bits of form? How did the Ballydoyle boys know they had the second fav covered, if the race was such a fix, as it was higher in the ratings than the eventual winner?

  47. lfc lad Says:

sleeping/ball bag you now think your a tipster with a winning 10/3 winner .dont be getting big headed its not hard to tip a short priced winner. go on and pick me a 10/1 or better winner today then i will have faith in you

  48. peter Says:

just looked at the drumbeat race !heffernan was happy were he was.and very slow to try move out! sad to say thats raceing ! balldoyle do like 2nd string winner! keep a eye out for it

  49. ban the cheats.. Says:

Matt on at the races covers for spencer ,Hughes, and Walsh all the time.Matt reads out the comments they are not his comments, but this time he did comment.

  50. Eamo F Says:

I think he is due to run in France next, it he runs well he may be worth a few bob alright, nothing really special been seen so far, Steinbeck is going to have an autumn campaign but he is short enough already because of the owners/trainers

  51. peter Says:

have look at masterofthehorse in the st leger u can still get 9/1 im on

  52. peter Says:

did any one do jayo not looking good for dublin come on alan for good betting day 4 me

  53. tipman Says:

shreyas will next time out was pull out today

  54. the.pro Says:
