Just who has taken over at the asylum? Paddy Power has decided that Tiger Woods, with just a four shot lead, is such a certainty to lift the Wanamaker Trophy we’ve paid out on him to win the US PGA Championship early – before a ball has been a hit in the third round and before Westwood can get in contention only to bogey the last and miss out on a playoff. Our customers have collected £1.25 million before the great man even tees off for round three.
In fairness, despite a wobbly start to proceedings on day 2, the world number one manoeuvred through extremely difficult conditions to lead the field by four. Towing the company line, as I did earlier in the week, he won’t be caught. He’s just too good.

and if ur payin out on woods then u should give better than 12 to 1 on harrington,,seen as woods is such a shoe in in your book.sportin bet r 16/1…ye should be offering 40 to 1 if u think woods has it won.plastic paddy.

fair play to paddy p thats why i never bet with anyone else and would rather do without a bet then use another bookies i.ve had 2 more good experience wit pp when paid out on rod fed to win wimbeldon in 07 before he served a ball and when ronnie o sullivan lost the plot against hendry when only 4 1 down in uk champs keep up the good work pp and i.ll keep spreding da word .. o and it won.t matter cos woods will still win it but u have kinda ruined my buzz just don.t have the interest now lol

Great Publicity! You’ve paid out early on many events. Its amazing how gullible people are - keep taking advantage of them. Its incredible the levels of stupidity around. Someone gambles at a level where they invest 1500 euros on a single event and only has 2 accounts! Another idiot lectures you on your responsibility to shareholders when you are one of the fastest growing bookies in the world. These people deserve to be fleeced. Laughable.

Look lads. I feel awful about taking this money when Tiger didn’t win. Whilst appreciating that it was foolhardy of you to offer this, please take it for granted that I won’t enjoy the slap-up meal that my winnings will provide, nor will I enjoy the bottle of fine wine to wash it all down either.

It will generate a lot of publicity for the company but surely with something as open as golf common sense should have prevailed. In the current economic climate the sum of 1.5 million is no paltry figure. Perhaps more caution would be advisable!

I think all at PP surely must used to have worked at Saatchi and Saatchi; million pounds worth of free publicity, with radios, papers etc telling the world about paddy Power - Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Personally I find it ofensive you pay out on losing bets when I’m not allowed to win more than £20 on successful bets. All money withdrawn and won’t use you again.

Paying out on Tiger Woods to win a golf tournament with a 4 shot lead and 36 holes to play?? Paddy Power has more money than sense!! Why didnt he pay out on something like Kilkenny winning the All Ireland Hurling Championship…I dont care how good Tiger Woods is - But he is not a 1/10 shot to win a major halfway through it!!

I’m sure their risk management team were smart enough to lay off some of the 1.5m on the betting exchanges plus add in the marketing/publicity they will generate from it, then it wont have end up costing that much to the firm/

Whats wrong with you punters? Paddy is giving away money and some are upset. Worrying about the share price of paddy power down 3.5%, (BEN) others moaning the odds were too low. There are some crazy people out there.
If your worrying about the share price of Paddy Power you should be referred to the Financial Times. Share prices rise and fall. Thats life to-morrow it will probably rise. Anyway all the shares fell to-day so what. This site is about having a punt. A gamble. If you think the odds are too low dont put a bet on go somewhere else. No-one is forcing anyone to put a bet on.
Some people are never happy. Pay them out early Paddy and they moan. Give them cream and they cry theres no cherry on top. Be glad you got paid early otherwise you would have got nothing at all and how would you have enjoyed that? Nothing. Big fat zero. Tyrone lad.

I had the Woods to lead after round 1 and win outright special at 10/1 and it was settled as a loser ??
Surely after leading on his own after day 1 all I am waiting on was the Woods outright win , which they decided to pay out on early.

mike P.P did payout on all singles in one of the classics after 36 holes and then had to pay out on the chineese lad that eventually won,i am not sure which one it was.
