He’s back! No not shady…but the devilishly handsome showbiz expert himself – Mr Paul Martin (it’s good to inflate these media types egos every once in a while! )

There was no messin’ about this week – we got straight down to business – ‘Jedward’ the terrible twins, have been slashed to 12/1 to win X Factor and Paul reckons the boys could do the job – and I won’t disagree – this year’s betting is all over the shop – Joe is 3/1 while Danyl (as Paul kind of exclusively revealed ) is not liked by the judges OR the contestants and has slipped all the way down the ranks to 9/2! Even Lucie Jones, our early favourite is gone off the radar at 6/1.

Outright tips:
You gotta have a sneaky fiver on Jedward especially now that Paddy Power are offering each way betting but Olly Murs (thanks to his dance moves) is the only man for me! Let’s see how the next week pans out!

As for this week’s elimination:
Rachel is the favourite but Paul “Showbiz” Martin reckons Danyl could be in the bottom two again. If you fancy his chances of getting the boot you can have a juicy 12/1. For me, it’s Lloyd Daniels who could be in trouble this week and he’s 9/4 to get the chop. We shall see!

And finally, to fillies of the two-legged variety – Miss Puerto Rico is the steamer of the day – backed in to 11/10. Can any of this years lovelies beat her to the post…hmm unlikely me thinks…

Super cool showbiz King Paul Martin swung by the office (on his way back from Xposé no less!) to give us his opinion and tips on this year’s X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing’s lineup and more importantly to show us those famous MJ moves! Shamone!

And we happen to think he looks like our good pal snooker ace Ronnie O’Sullivan from the side too (jeez there’s something for everyone in our showbiz vid!)

It’s fair to say it’s been a little while since I wrote a blog. Last time I looked some guy going under the alias ‘Cartoon Vampire’ had over-run it, so I promise I’ll blog that little bit more, ‘cause I know how much you love being updated about novelty betting!

The bossman caught up with the legendary Richard Dunwoody, and for once, fillies of a different kind were the subject of discussion!

Richard takes to the dance floor next week with his sexy partner Lilia on Strictly Come Dancing and we want everyone to get behind him. He might be 16/1 but we reckon he has some serious staying power!

I’d like to say it was a shock but I’m afraid it comes as no great surprise that Ireland has once again failed to qualify for The Eurovision. Even the patriotic punts were down this year with only €7,000 wagered on Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy. A friend of mine suggested words instead of ‘Et cetera’ might have helped us get through! There’s always one eh?!

Ah well, all is not lost! If you were unfortunate enough to have a bet riding on Ireland in this year’s Eurovision, then fear not my friends, because Paddy Power is refunding all bets placed on Ireland in this year’s song contest. Well, it’s the least we could do after suffering over two hours of some atrocious music to get the result! Here’s to next year, or the year after…or the year after…or the year after!

I don’t know who the guerilla artist is that “art-punked” our Taoiseach but whoever he is made me chuckle today! I probably wouldn’t have batted an eyelid at RTE’s report until the station bizarrely issued a public apology to the Taoiseach the next day!

Apparently the Taoiseach’s office was none too happy to view RTE’s report and gave the state broadcaster a little slap on the wrist. Seemed like a wee bit of an over-reaction to me but I could half understand why Cowen might have been disgruntled at a not too flattering pic of him on the bog! (more…)

Move over David Beckham…there’s a new trend setter in town! Business is apparently booming for barbers across the country with hundreds of people lining up to get the same hedgehog cut as Eoghan Quigg.

Easiest money those barbers will ever make! They could come to me and I’d give them a Quigg-wig for free. How hard can it be to get a clump of gel and ruffle a few hairs?!

Just how big is this do gonna get? Could the Quigg-wig be to man what the “Aniston” was to us girls? Could it catch on like a foul case of the flu? I’m actually a little worried that we’re just 3/1 about Beckham sporting the Quigg-wig! For the love of God Victoria, don’t let him!

In the betting, Eoghan is hot on the heels of X Factor favourite and his alleged ‘love interest’ Diana Vickers. He’s now just 11/4 to be crowned this year’s X Factor champion.
