Suggest-A-Bet - Next Manager To Be Sent Off, will it be Joe “Effing” Kinnear?

Posted by Darren at 7:33pm October 3rd, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 13 Comments

This week’s winner is ‘Ray’ for his suggestion - which Premier League Manager will be sent off next?

You can bet on Ray’s Suggest-A-Bet market now simply by clicking here

And what a feisty lot of contenders you’ve got to pick from! David Moyes has already been given his marching orders this season and the likes of Mark Hughes, Martin O’Neill and ‘Arry Redknapp are never short of a few choice words when things go against them. And then there’s Sir Fergie, of course, although there have been plenty of occasions when the great manager has blown a gasket or looked likely too, he’s very rarely pushed the refs into showing him a red. Probably because they’re too scared of him! (more…)

Suggest-A-Bet

Posted by Darren at 6:48pm October 1st, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 25 Comments

Premier League football continues at its frenetic pace as ever and that gives us another week of completely new ideas, topics and scandals for Suggest-A-Bet. Simply email in your ideas for any weekend specials and you could win a free €50/£50 free bet and have your bet live on paddypower.com.

So where to look? Crisis clubs Newcastle and Spurs have tough games against Everton and Hull respectively. Yes, with Hull having won at Arsenal last week I think its fair to say they are a tough game for bottom of the league Spurs. The other big game is arguably Chelsea v Aston Villa.

And it seems there’s as much going on off the pitch as on it at the moment with the FA’s Respect Campaign stumbling over it’s first hurdles, referees making decisions you wouldn’t see in Sunday League, the futures of David Moyes and Juande Ramos in question and managerless Newcastle going from one crisis to another.

And that’s just scratching the surface. We’ll take a look at your suggestions on Thursday afternoon and announce a winner shortly after.

Good luck!

Suggest-A-Bet Winner - Are Manchester United Turning Yellow?

Posted by Darren at 5:01pm September 26th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 6 Comments

One thing you can’t say about Man Utd is that they’re yellow. Built in the mould of their manager, this team’s not for backing down or turning chicken. You’ve got to stand up and be counted if you’re going to survive at Old Trafford. And I’m not soo sure there’s much wrong with that.

Occasionally though they do step over the mark, spit the dummy and throw their toys out of the pram - with Rio’s full time hissy fit at Stamford Brisdge likely to live long in the memory for anyone who finds grown men throwing a paddy like a three year old particularly hilarious.

Which leads us to this week’s Suggest-A-Bet winner, which if you haven’t guessed already, goes to Nesbit99 for his idea - how many yellow cards will Manchester United pick up against Bolton.

Congratulations Nesbit99 - your cheque is in the post (well, the 50 quid free bet is in your account anyway)

If you fancy a flutter on Nesbit’s market you can bet here

See you same time, same place next week!

Suggest-A-Bet Taking A Ferry ‘Cross The Mersey

Posted by Darren at 2:55pm September 24th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 32 Comments

Your weekly Suggest-A-Bet competition is back for your chance to win a free €50/£50 bet, although there’s no prizes for guessing the most obvious destination for your ideas this week.

All eyes will almost certainly be on Merseyside on Saturday when Everton and Liverpool meet. Always great fun and never anything less than the old football favourite of “110%” being given - who can forget Jamie Carragher’s wrestle-mania antics in the same fixture last season?

New boys Stoke and Hull have the dubious pleasure of playing Chelsea and Hull Arsenal respectively whilst Jermain Defoe will be renewing acquaintances with Spurs on Sunday. If you don’t fancy the football we’ve also got the spectacle on Sunday of the first ever night-time Grand Prix, taking place under floodlights in Singapore.

Or you may have an idea yourself on another sporting theme taking place this weekend. I reckon your chances of winning our 50 quid free bet is going to be slightly better than winning this weekend’s 100million Lottery so get your creative juices flowing!

Deadline Thursday lunchtime.

Suggest-A-Bet Result - Rooney Bets Are On

Posted by Darren at 5:42pm September 19th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 1 Comment

Thanks again for your ideas. Loads of gems as ever but we noticed an undercurrent from several of you as to the merits of Wayne ‘Wazza’ Rooney. And one bet in particular hit the nail on the head…

Having failed to score in the league for United since April we particularly liked the look of Dave’s bet - when will Rooney next score a league goal for Man Utd?

Although a word to the wise, Rooney’s last league goal was at…. Stamford Bridge. And we all know where Fergie’s team are rocking up to on Sunday…

Here’s your bet Dave, which should be up on site soon. Congratulations.

When Will Rooney Next Score A League Goal For United?
16/5 V Chelsea
5/1 V Boro
5/2 V Bolton
6/1 V Blackburn
6/1 V West Brom
14/1 V Everton
11/1 V West Ham
6/1 Rooney not to score a league goal before November

Suggest-A-Bet re-opens for the next round of ideas on Tuesday.

Suggest-A-Bet - 50 Quid Free Bet Up For Grabs

Posted by Darren at 1:07pm September 17th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 58 Comments

Once again the sporting world moves on at a pace and as we roll through another week we have a completely new set of stories and headlines in-waiting to lend themselves to this week’s Suggest-A-Bet.

As ever the field is wide open for your ideas and suggestions but the big event of the week really is a no-brainer - Man United’s visit to Chelsea. There is, though, the battle of crisis clubs Newcastle and West Ham to consider, as well as Stoke’s first game against Liverpool since losing to them 8-0 back in 2000, at a ground they haven’t won at since 1959.

For inspiration the winning markets we’ve had so far this season have included:
- Which Chelsea player will foul Robinho first
- How many games will Man City win v The Big Four
- 1st player to be signed by Man City
- How long will it take Aston Villa to score v Stoke
- First debutant to score in the Premier League

Don’t forget this is your chance to win a €50/£50 free bet and have your market posted live on our website for us all to have a punt on.

Usual deadline of 10am (ish) on Thursday morning. Good luck!

Suggest-A-Bet Winner Kicks Out At Robinho

Posted by Darren at 4:58pm September 12th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 3 Comments

It seems a number of you are getting tuned into the Paddy Power way of thinking with several ideas coming through on this week’s Suggest-A-Bet that we ourselves had also lined up. We love it, please do keep them coming.

There can of course only be one winner - and this week is ‘Linda’ for her suggestion which Chelsea player will foul Robinho first.

The fifty quid free bet will be on its way to you Linda, and my money’s on Deco.

An honorable mention should also go to Gazza for his Correct Score Bookings market which we have also priced up.

More Suggest-A-Bets and your chance to win a €50/£50 free bet next week.

Paddy Power Suggest-A-Bet - return of the Premier League…

Posted by Darren at 5:02pm September 9th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 40 Comments

Is it me or do international weeks always feel so incredibly slow? Or maybe that’s just the football. Still, the Premier League’s back on Saturday with all the usual thrills, spills and bellyaches that we’ll all be dissecting in the pub come Saturday night.

Which lends itself gloriously to this week’s Suggest-A-Bet and your chance to win a €50/£50 free bet and see your chosen bet up in lights on the paddypower.com by dreaming up an original and fun betting market.

There probably couldn’t be a more obvious starting point for possible football bets this week – you don’t need to look much further than Liverpool’s big match with rivals Man Utd. However there are plenty of other particularly interesting talking points well worth considering as well, not least the clash of the Prem’s two fat cats; Manchester City and Chelsea. It also just happens to include Robinho’s debut against the team he should/could have signed for… hilarious! And how can we forget the merry-go-rounds at Newcastle and West Ham?

City’s game against Chelsea will also see last week’s Suggest-A-Bet winner Martin P’s bet kick in as we see how Mark Hughes’ team fares against the Big Four this season.

But as ever, this is just a guide to what’s topical and all suggestions are welcome. We’ve even got the Ryder Cup just around the corner that shouldn’t be forgotten…

Usual deadline applies, 10am Thursday.

Over to you!

Suggest-A-Bet - And The Winner Is…

Posted by Darren at 7:15pm September 4th, 2008

Category: Sportsbook, Suggest-A-Bet 3 Comments

After such a mental week in the world of football and so much to talk about it was no surprise to see a few good specials from you all, many thanks once again.

However with Manchester City still the talking point in pubs up and down the land and filling the sports pages of every newspaper we’ve gone with Martin P’s suggestion: “how many games will City win v the Big Four this season.” With City’s next game against none other than Chelsea there’ll certainly be a lot of speculation in the next week as to how soon they can bridge the gap to the traditional big boys and Martin’s market covers it off nicely.

Martin - congratulations - a 50 quid free bet will be dropping in to your Paddy Power account soon.

You can bet on Martin P’s special here

Next chance to win a free €50/£50 free bet will appear next Tuesday.
