Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay stopped the presses in France by landing wonder goal from around 50 yards out last night.

The Dutch international was hailed as the next big thing when he arrived at Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven in May 2015, but he quickly fell onto the scrapheap when Jose Mourinho arrived as manager.

After a frustrating start to the campaign with the Red Devils, Depay finally escaped out the exit door to Lyon in January for a fee said to be around £17m.

He’s settled into life in the France very quickly, netting five times in his five Ligue 1 outings to date. But, it’s his latest offering that has the football world talking as he landed a beauty from just inside the opposition half to help Lyon to a 4-0 win over Toulouse.

United fans can see just what they’re missing below, don’t forget that there’s a buy-back clause!
