Always Bet on Black!
15-10-2008 23:11:01
It seems that Hollywood action hero Wesley Snipes’ advice to “Always bet on black” was well advised because, from this morning, we’re calling time on the US Presidential election and paying out on Illinois Senator, Barack Obama, as the forty-fourth President of the United States.
Apparently Obama can trace his family roots back to Moneygall in County Offaly, so maybe that can explain his practically unbackable odds of 1/9 in the hours running up to the final debate in New York last night.
Not even “sexy” hockey-mom, Sarah Palin, could derail the unstoppable Obama train, whose momentum was such that since the Alaskan mother of five was parachuted in as the Republican V.P. nominee his odds for success tumbled from evens to 1/9.
There’s still almost three weeks to go till Election Day on November 4th and as we’ve seen on many occasions before American politics is full of treachery surprises but we’re with Mr Snipes on this.
So if you’ve bet on black come on back because you’re on a winner. And if you want some more we’ve still got the biggest range of markets on the US election.

At times it's glitz and glamour. It's Bond-like international travel and espionage with none of the dangers of being killed by a power-hungry Communist with plans to destroy the earth. It's thrills and excitement followed by the euphoria of victory or the depression of defeat. In most people's eyes it's a dream job, but with stress-related health problems, thousands of people telling you how to do your job and any gratitude you receive being swiftly swept away at the merest glimpse of a downturn, being a football manager may not be all it's cracked up to be.

And then there's Sir Fergie, of course, although there have been plenty of occasions when the great manager has blown a gasket or looked likely too, he's very rarely pushed the refs into showing him a red. Probably because they're too scared of him!
