Ray Cochrane must be pretty embarassed about ‘forgetting’ to appeal to have Frankie’s ban deferred. It means that Frankie misses a once in a lifetime chance to complete the Derby treble.
It’s not like he was on a no hoper either, Boscobel has to have a big squeak after his Ascot win - By the way, Ascot was deadly this year. I’ve never seen so many drunk people together in one place, and I go to Galway every year! The racing was good too.
The other jockeys who picked up bans will be suited and booted at the Curragh on Sunday.
Speaking of which, Eagle Mountain looks strong enough considering his Epsom second. If you take Authorized out of that race, he’s an impressive Derby winner. The ground will be a factor, but then again so will Fallon.
I’m more than a little interested in Dermot Weld’s Prince Erik. He was ultra impressive at Leopardstown and even though it’s a massive step up, Scorpion very nearly did it.
