You want to bet on it?
We are always looking at how we can improve our site and at the moment our attention has turned to our Bet Slip . Our current one has performed well for us over the past couple of years and we have not had many problems with it so it has been a case of if it aint broke….
Well times have changed and we think that now is the time to say goodbye to the old one and in its place we want to introduce a new and improved slip, that displays on the same page you are looking at, is visible form every page you visit, is always in the same area, and is a lot simpler and easier to use with less steps.
Its fair to say that we have a pretty good idea of what we want to do with it but I want to invite your comments now so that we can make it the best it can be. I can’t guarantee that we will use every suggestion but I can promise to read and review each of them, I may even put some replies up here if there’s something we need to discuss. So please post a comment on here, tell us what you like or dislike about our current bet slip, Tell us about other bet slips you use and like, tell us about features you would like to see on the bet slip, tell us what annoys you most about the whole process.

Firstly, on the PP site it has never been possible to have more than one horse per race in multiples. Other sites have facility to have ( for example) 3 sels per race in cross doubles.

The process for placing irish lotto bets is too tedious you should just be able to select one set of numbers which are triplicated if necessary to cover three draws at the touch of a button

Would be nice feature to be able to add a ‘bet alert’ via email or SMS text, such as a few other sites offer.

A few things. I agree with Pat Barry in that cross doubles should be able to be done. Two simple features could be put on the betslip. “Clear Selections” could be added so all selections can be deleted at once as sometimes i think of placing an accumulator or a bet with more than 5 selections but then change my mind and although quick it would be easier just to clear all the selections. Also “Retain Selections” so that when you place a bet you can decide if you want to keep the selections on your betslip rather than add them again

I tend to bet on a number of horses in a particular way, e.g. €10 E/W. I would like to be able to define a standard bet which would apply to all selections. You do this at the moment on the multiple slip where I can set an amount for all bets. However, it defaults to Win and I have to click down on each bet to make it E/W.

It would be nice to have a floating “bet now” button. On the fotball pages when there are a lot of games (especially at weekends) I have to keep scrolling down to use te bet now button. If it was kept at the top of the page it would be much easier.

Takes forever to do Irish lotto bets . Why can’t you do Lucky 15 & 31 Super Yankee etc ect like other bookmaker sites. If I want to do a lucky 31. I have to do 31 single bets plus if I want them for the 3 draws its 93 bets. To much hassle . Even in football if you want to do perm correct scores the site won’t let you.

I find it very frustrating that you can only make 12 selections in the soccer accu`s, whereas if I went to my local pp shop I can pick up a coupon and make as many selections as I like. Maybe a seperate coupon style betslip.
I also agree with the floating bet button as it would come in handy for BIR events when you need speed.

What bug’s the s1t out of me the most is when you place a bet on live betting and the progress bar proceeds back and forth for a period of time , you think the bet has been placed yet you suddenly discover that the live selection is no longer available or that live betting is suspended!

yeah, that’s really anoying, but can understand why it happens…. usally conditions of bet have changed…goal scored or whatever,in fairness,usally if odds change,the change is free flowing,but we’ll ave a moan anyway
i just think there should be more free bets, lol, and odds of 5/6 should be abolished!! how bout evens/evens in a two horserace, go on go on gon….

An onscreen bet-slip is better because if you have more than 1 program running on your PC then the old betslip cud minimise accidentally and you lose your train of thought. Anyway just view Ladbrokes onscreen betslip. Add more colour and make it more defined and then you’ve won the battle. Of all the betting sites, PaddyPower is superior. I say kick-on from that! Definition is the word!

just a suggestion on maybe how to solve two problems. Maybe get rid of the “bet now” function and as soon as you click a selection it adds to the slip but have it as like a tick box so it is easy to untick. I think that this would save time for in-running punters also help people who place soccer accas. Also this means you can have more than one selection in a race and also easy to get rid of unwanted selections. Any opinions?

maybe having an accumulator system for several selections like footy results and maybe updating live betting selections automatically so they dont expire before you place your bets. tickboxes for several bets makes it easier to keep track off and delete bets too on ladbrokes site. apart from that though great site!

I like to “pencil in” my selections then from a pool of say twelve,
do some doubles and accums, mixing it up, so a retain selection or some way to hold the pool.
Also why can’t i look at my outstanding bets w/out having to drill down to my account ,
should be a way to review previous bet slips w odds and potential winnings for those
“oh my god, this might be it !” moments

Horse Racing bet slip idea.
Not sure if this has been covered, would be good if the bet slip calculated your winnings based on 1,2 or 3rd place payout. So far the existing bet slip only calculates your winnings based on 1st place pay out. I’m crap at maths so this would help, eh?

I like to pick two teams to win and perm them with the 2-1 result in every other game in the football league in small trebles. but currently i have to manually place over 50 indivual bets, so a perm function would be great.

When doing a multiple it is currently cumbersome having to press the ‘Bet now@ button when changing to another race card. Surely when I hit the price button/sp button after a horses name it should go straight onto the betslip.
Also (as a non techie) I hate when the system ’sticks’, this often happens when, say, doing a Yankee I take an early price on a race, carry on filling the other three selections by which time the first selection has stopped being e/p and the betslip comes back with some warning message like ‘ cannot combine selections, which is fair enough, except the whole thing sticks and it becomes impossible to make another bet. I have to log off and signin again (sometimes missing definate winners!)
Other then that its a great site

I agree with Polo1 about “retained selections.” Often from a pool of selections i’ll maybe want to place the same bet a second time but alter one of the selections. Or remove one of the selections when i’m getting edgy !
It can be a pain to go and re-select all the bets - especially handicap bets and the like which aren’t quite so accessible quickly. And if any of the selections are BIR.
Keep on trying to take my money - i’ll have you next season !

Can you set your cookie to remember how you prefer to see odds (ie fractions or decimals). At the very least set it so it doesn’t take you back to the home page every time you change your setting. Aaarrrggghhhh!

A floating bet now button seems a great idea. Also, when betting on accums, if the selections were left in place after the bet had gone through, so you could then put another bet on straight away would help greatly. Also, in BIR, if the page reverted back to your selections when the odds change would be great. On several occasions I included a BIR bet with other selections only to find that when i went to place the bet, the BIR had gone or the the handicap on it had changed. Thus I had to start all over again. I have also had difficulties that when I place a bet at peak times the slip just goes awol.
On related issues, could you allow for the log in set up to stay on longer and to give more detailed examples of potential winnings on say 6 out of 7 selections winning. EG You have the potential winnings of all your selections but if only 4,5,or6, won out of 7 what would your return be

Tevez to score in 90 minutes

Messi to score in 90 minutes
Argentina to lead at 20 minutes
- all this accumulated - would be nice to have this option.

I like to narrow down three races on any given day to say, two horses per race and do a set of combination trebles on those 3 races, i.e. 2 selections in Race 1 x 2 selections in Race 2 x 2 selections in Race 3. There’s no problem doing this on a docket in the betting shop, but its not possible on the website. I see other comments above along the same lines. The idea of a box that you can tick opposite each horse in a race and then get the required combination permutations you desire would appear to be the answer. Come on techies!!!

I think it would be great if you could let us do bets where we can have a scorecast double eg. ronaldo to score 1st and Man utd to win 2-1 against middlesbrough (30-1)
along with drogba to score 1st and chelsea to win 3 -0 (33-1) against watford. €10 win
Why doesnt paddy power let us do these bets together on the betslip?

Would it be at all possible for my bet NOT to be passed on to the horse and jockey. It seems that the weight of my money is causing both parties a huge amount of distress and anguish. So if we vcan just keep it to ourselves until after the race has finished that would be great.

I’d like the option of opening up tabs as I use your site, I like to cross refer as I place bets, particularly when choosing bets on something like the field of golfers in the British Open. Alternatively having a window showing all bets placed in current session would be good, hey I’d love to try and bust you with an each way accumulator on the first six golfers in the open! I dont know if such a facility for such a mug’s bet exists. Keep up the good work!

I think Paddy Power should have an option to bet after the days racing has ended. I think they should select a customer at random and allow them to place a bet on a horse after the days racing has finished. This selected customer carries on doing this each day until he picks a loser, then another customer gets a go. I also think that Paddy Power should start by radomly selecting men aged 33 and called Lee Darrell……Good idea?!

Add a sync program that posts both the event time
and automatically converts the time of the event into the betters real time.
In fact I missed betting on the FIFA U-20 today because of this.
I have seen this program on other sites.(non-betting)

I agree about the soccer accumulator idea i.e have more than 12 spaces as it limits the amount of teams you can pick and also if you want to use the PP calculator to check your potential returns it takes longer as you again can only enter 12 selections. The floating betslip idea so it is always visible is also a great idea

my gripe is with your aertel pages. please ignore this if you feel it is irrellevant. if you are looking for a price on aertel on ,lets say, the open golf championship. You might have to wait through 4 or 5 sub pages. I know this is not the case on the web. However if PP could have 2 in vision pages, 1 with the ” Main Event “, and the other facilitating all other events. often by the time the rellevant sup page appears the intended has made that bird and you lose a good bet! This could also cost PP money as the intended golfer might have as easily made bogey!!!! I’m new to the web but your web site, at the moment, is one of the best I have visited!

why not intoduce straight place betting? If a person wishes to bet on a Horse that they suspect cannot win but would have a chance to be placed at a big price, they are forced to bet on the very outside chance that the horse might win.

The only bet that has any significance is the guineas derby double.

The wap site could do with a big overhaul. nice that it’s just text though and no pictures. The recent transactions shown in wap is not too friendly or well presented. the bets on some of the sporting games are hard to find and accumulators are impossible to make..
no decimal selection is possible - i hate the fractions!
The bet calculator doesn’t allow to enter fractions either..

If for example you you want to pick 3 greyhounds and combine the forecasts, you have to individually pick each dog, put it on the slip, go back, pick next dog etc. You should be able to select 3 dogs (or more!) at one time and view your options immediately (when you do finally get your selections on one slip there is not enough options eg. 3 selections; 3 Str f/c in chosen order). Also you cant place a single on the dog that you fancy to win the race at the same time as well. Again you have to put your combination f/c on then go back and place your single! It’s just a very convoluted way around to place what should be a simple bet!
p.s. if anyone can put my convoluted comments in a simpler way I would much appreciate it!!

Well as im not the most gifted at surfin and i more often than not screw up the easiest of stuff. I would just like to say thank you pp for deciding to change your bet slips just when i had started to be comfortable using them. I hope you take us web noobs into acount when deciding what the new 1 will look like amd remember to make them as easy as A B C.
