Announcing the all new Betslip…

5:07pm Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 by Web Team

It’s been a long time coming but we’ve finally released our new Bet Slip Version 1.999999 (Beta).

Thanks to everyone that commented on our previous blog post with suggestions. We tried to take on board everyone’s ideas but some just weren’t possible. For example one smart arse wanted the winners before the event happened. We’re still working on a flux capacitor for that one, but rest assured you’ll be 2nd to know when it happens. Well 3rd after we take our competitors to the cleaners.

We have crammed in a lot of your suggestions including:

- New In-line version of the betslip that follows you down the page.
- Option to retain the betslip as a pop-up
- One click “Add to bet slip” links
- Ability to create multiple bet types on one slip
- Ability to apply one amount to multiple singles
- Remove certain selections without removing all selections
- Winnings calculated on the fly (done wherever info is available)
- Option to retain your selections after you place your bet
- Intuitive “Further Info” links
- Enhanced price change alerts (betslip preference settings)

For more information, have a glance at our betslip tutorial.

Please keep the suggestions coming as when we get really bored in the office and Paddy won’t let us go home, we read them.

Thanks,
Web Team

Feedback from Web Team
Over 24 hours and a few hundred thousand successful bets placed on the new betslip since we went live with it yesterday morning.

As with any new development there have been a few teething problems that we are working hard on fixing. Thanks for all of your feedback, both good and bad, as it helps us to look at issues that are important to you.

We have been working on a new betslip, specifically in response to requests received from customers over the past year, including the suggestions that came through the blog.

Many of you have posted to say “If it isn’t broken…” It’s true that the betslip worked, but it didn’t do all the things people were asking for. We are constantly looking at ways to improve things, allowing you to get bets on faster and more easily. We really do believe that the new slip enables you this.

We will hold our hands up and say that we should have given you more warning and apologise for that, we will definitely look at how we communicate these changes to you in the future.

A lot of feedback has been centred around the size of the text on the site. We are actively looking at increasing this and hope to have something for you very soon.

A number of other issues seem to be based on placing in-running betting. Again we are working on resolving issues with this and have already taken some steps to improve this.

As always we are pushing to improve the speed of the site and like any new development we will be working on this as well over the next couple of days.

One of the main improvements with the new betslip is that it presents you with all your betting options on one screen. The multiples section is directly underneath your singles section. This allows you to combine any single selections you have made into multiple bets. The multiple options will appear once one or more selections are added. One thing to note on this – if your selections cannot be combined into a multiple then the multiple option won’t appear. If the selections you have made are combinable and you are still experiencing problems then please contact our customer service team and they will help you out.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that for specific issues our free Customer service team are here and ready to help you please call them on

We will also be launching a “How to” video tomorrow to help you all out.

Please, keep the feedback coming as it’s not ignored…

Further Feedback from Web Team
There have been a few comments about the betslip not working across all browsers.

We tested the new betslip rigorously to ensure that it worked on as many browsers as possible, including Firefox and Safari.

We can see that successful bets are being placed on all of these versions (Accounting for 99.5% of all of our users preferences).

Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 6
Firefox 2
Firefox 1.5
Safari 3.1.1 (On a Mac and a PC)

(Note: we don’t support Opera but we will be trying to fix some problems we have uncovered in due course)

If you are still having problems it may due to the browser settings. Please contact our free customer support and they will help you. Some browser problems only occur on certain operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows Vista) so it may help to have those details as well.

Further Feedback from Web Team

A lot of feedback we have received was about the size of the text on the Betslip. We have now increased this so it is the same as the other text on the site and you are right, it does look better.

We have also added in extra information to the Fore/Tricast options for racing bets so you can see the selections you have added and the order in which they will be placed.

Paddy has put together a new video tutorial to run though the new Betslip functionality. If you’re having problems placing bets, hopefully this will be helpful. Click on the image to launch the video.

RSS - Really Simple (Content) Sharing…

2:53pm Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 by Web Team

We at Paddy Power understand that speed is important. Sure as they say in the movies, “time is money”. For this reason, we’ve once again paid the Paddy Power geeks an extra 4 pizzas and a free Atari T-shirt to build us a set of RSS Feeds to help you get to the information you need even faster.

The king is dead, long live the king

11:03am Thursday, February 28th, 2008 by Web Team

As I’m sure most of you are aware, we launched our new Racing Pages earlier this month. Thanks to the feedback we received in an earlier post, we quickly realised the Next 3 Races link in the navigation was missed. One of our technical advisors thought it wouldn’t be. He’s been de-promoted to the Marketing team…

So I’m happy to announce the return of the long awaited Next Race link to the Left Nav. To make up for the delay we’ve increased it to the Next 5 Races. That’s an extra 66% FREE.

Once again thanks for the feedback and keep it coming, as we’re not ignoring it.

More changes to come…

Happy Racing,

Racing, now in glorious technicolour

2:02pm Monday, February 11th, 2008 by Web Team

Today sees the launch of our new racing pages. Once again we have locked lots of technical people into a room, not letting them out this time until they emerged successfully with a new racing section for our website.

The new pages have more information, are easier to use and hopefully give you all what you have been asking us for.  As for our technical people, well, after a day in the sunshine, we sent them back into their room to get on with the next development.

What a result

6:58pm Thursday, November 1st, 2007 by Web Team

You asked for it so we built it.  We are proud to present our new and improved, GTI 16V Results service.

You can now get every result for every market for every event we offer here on the website.  That’s right, it covers all sports from Racing to Rugby, Football to Financials and Cricket to Cycling.

What a Result?

7:44pm Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 by Web Team

Right..you’ve asked for it!..plus you’ve begged, pleaded, cajoled, threatened, harassed..and eventually sent us the nice brown envelope containing the correct amount of “beer vouchers” required in order to get…(drumroll…hushed respectful silence) a brandy brand new…Results Centre! da-dahh! Ah right..it’s not quite ready yet, but it may (or may not..depending on beer voucher consumption) be soon appearing on a screen near you!

So, what we want now is to hear your dreams?!? No..not those kind..the “I have a dream of finding out the result of the Outer Mongolia v Ballyboglanders match on which I punted the kid’s college fund money” kind of dream… i.e. What do you want to see offered on our new Results service? We currently only offer results for Racing and “Soccer” (aka Football to those of us not in Beckhamland), but are planning to extend the results service to every event we offer for betting on paddypower.com e.g. those high octane events such as Ostrich Racing, Pigeon Wrestling, Foxy Boxing (I wish) etc..ahem I mean Tennis, Golf, Rugby and the other 1001 sports/current affairs events you can bet on with PP.

So what Results bell or whistle floats your boat..e.g. a quicklink to all todays results by sport, Latest Racing or Football Matches results for events just settled, a RSS feed of results straight to my browser..etc.. you get the idea…just jot down your dream idea below and it may become a reality!

As Kevin ‘Field of Dreams’ Costner once said..”build it and they will come”. So unless you want to see a big ass baseball field built smack bang in the middle of our lovely website..please tell us what kind of Results section you want to visit!

You want to bet on it?

9:00am Thursday, June 28th, 2007 by Web Team

We are always looking at how we can improve our site and at the moment our attention has turned to our Bet Slip .  Our current one has performed well for us over the past couple of years and we have not had many problems with it so it has been a case of if it aint broke….

Well times have changed and we think that now is the time to say goodbye to the old one and in its place we want to introduce a new and improved slip, that displays on the same page you are looking at, is visible form every page you visit, is always in the same area, and is a lot simpler and easier to use with less steps.

Its fair to say that we have a pretty good idea of what we want to do with it but I want to invite your comments now so that we can make it the best it can be.  I can’t guarantee that we will use every suggestion but I can promise to read and review each of them, I may even put some replies up here if there’s something we need to discuss.  So please post a comment on here, tell us what you like or dislike about our current bet slip, Tell us about other bet slips you use and like, tell us about features you would like to see on the bet slip, tell us what annoys you most about the whole process.

Can you limit responses to the topic please as the Mods will delete anything that isn’t, if you have any other comments or feedback on the site in general can you please email customer support (use the link at the bottom of the page)

Welcome to Over The Line

5:24pm Thursday, February 15th, 2007 by Web Team

Ok we admit it we are a bit late to the Party with our Blog but we decided that enough was enough and that all you lucky people out there should get to hear what we at Paddy Power HQ have to say about all things betting and a few things that are not. And so it was the Paddy Power Blog, Over The Line was born.

We will be posting here about things that we are talking about ranging from Sports events, TV, New additions to the website, Poker, Games, The betting world and just about anything else that we think you might be intetrested in hearing.

Hopefully you will get to know a few of the people here from Paddy Power himself to the people that write the Home page articles and the Web team that is in charge of keeping the website running and easy to use.

Thats not all though we want to hear from you, feel free to comment on any or all of the posts that you see, or maybe drop us a line and tell us what you want to hear us talking about, you never know we may even stick it up as a post. Bear in mind we have some rules so please observe them before you make a post.

Happy reading

The Web Team
