The Greatest Poker Tournament
8:51am Tuesday, April 10th, 2007 by Paddy PowerWas anyone down at the poker in the burlo over the weekend? It’s a bizarre universe. The atmosphere was top notch - kind of like an international weekend. Everyone was staying in the hotel, boozing in the bar and roaring on their local favourite. An Irish guy won it, Marty Smyth from Belfast. He beat a famous Poker pro called Roland de Wolfe who was a really aggressive player going all in at every opportunity. It was really boring for about an hour when it was down to the last two but then it all kicked off and you couldn’t help but get into it. The most amazing thing though was that while I was standing there watching the final table, I had a look around and in two other parts of the room there were games for 400k and 100k going on - serious dough! I wish I was good at Poker!
