After landing a share of the £325,000 Hotshot Jackpot prize, we spoke to the two lucky Paddy Power punters who correctly picked eight Premier League goalscorers over the weekend.

And they were eager to get spending their winnings – once they’d clarified that our call was legit.

Darrell, who lives in Lincoln, thought it all sounded a bit too good to be true, and demanded to speak to Paddy Power himself to certify his fortune!

Baby Romelu

He said: “I thought you were winding me up. I couldn’t even tell you who I picked for the scorers – I just did my picks and then forgot all about it.

“So I wasn’t even watching the Everton game last night, let alone stressing about it.

“I’ve just had a baby girl, so I was probably changing her nappy when Lukaku scored! I might have to name her Romelu now.

“I have no idea how I’m going to tell my other half – she’ll think it’s a joke, too. But this money means we can buy a house together.”

Vegas Baby!

Our other winner David, a delivery driver from Dunfermline, it’ll kick-start a week-long holiday in the Costa Del Sol – where he landed at half time of the match. Just in time to see Lukaku bag a hat trick.

Amongst the other scorers he tipped was Chelsea man Diego Costa.

David said: “I still can’t believe it, it’s a dream start to my holiday and despite being a Manchester United fan I’ll love Lukaku forever after this.

“Me and the missus have already started thinking about what we’ll spend the money on and it looks like a Vegas wedding and paying off the mortgage are top of the list – it’s a dream come true.”

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “As the first two winners of Hotshot Jackpot these two have shot right into our Punting Hall of Fame.

“With Lukaku in such torrid form we were feeling pretty confident of holding onto the prize but fair play.

“I’m sure David’s winnings will buy him a few San Miguels while he’s in Spain planning for that Vegas wedding – congratulations!”

The Hotshot Jackpot competition will reset next weekend, with the prize fund set at £250,000.
