When he hasn’t been continuing his efforts to “Make America Great Again”, US President-elect Donald Trump seems to be doing everything in his power to further his bromance with Nigel Farage.

Trump has long been an admirer of the former UKIP leader, and frequently cited Farage’s success in the Brexit campaign during his run to winning the US presidential election this month.

Even though he’s supposedly busy putting his future cabinet together, Trump took time out yesterday to tweet his support for Farage to be the next UK ambassador to the United States.

In response to this, we’ve made it 6/1 after being out at 10/1 for Farage to take up the post across the pond.

Trump’s declaration is rather unusual when it comes to world politics, as states generally pick their own envoys to other countries without any outside influences.

Since stepping down as UKIP leader in July following Britain’s vote to leave the EU, it has long been rumoured that Trump had a role waiting for Farage if he was successfully elected. That now seems to be off the table, however an ambassadorial role would be a nice consolation prize.

Trump does seem to be getting everything he wants lately, even if Boris Johnson rejected the notion of Farage as ambassador in the UK parliament this afternoon.

Still our traders have learned their lesson from Trump’s election – which cost us $4.5m – and they’ve decided to slash Farage as the next British ambassador to the USA to 6/1 – just in case.

These days you can’t rule anything out, and punters fancying Farage to be UK Prime Minster by the end of 2025 can grab it at 40/1. After this year we can’t even say stranger things have happened anymore…
